Fischer Homes, Ltd.

Fischer Homes gives its clients what they want in a new or renovated home.

By Jim Harris

One of the greatest compliments a Fischer Homes, Ltd. client can pay to the company’s owners is to tell them their new home is better than they hoped it would be. “We listen to our clients needs and wants and translate that vision into reality,” says Josh Fischer, who co-owns the Naperville, Ill., building and renovation company with his wife, Susie Fischer.

The couple works directly with clients to develop designs for their homes based on clients’ personal interests and suggestions. Susie Fischer assists clients with product and material selections throughout the design process. “My goal is to streamline the selection and design process so as not to overwhelm the client and achieve their vision,” she says.

The Fischers strongly believe in weaving the clients’ lifestyle into their designs. “A clients’ home should be reflective FISCHERof their personal tastes and function within their daily life. We listen to their needs and wants and incorporate those into the design,” she adds. “Our main goal is to provide our clients with a well-designed, functional home they love with the highest quality and attention to detail possible.”

The company believes in constant communication with its clients. “We are always reachable,” Josh Fischer says. “We know that communication is of the highest importance to any renovation project or new build.”

Staying Involved

The Fischers formed the company in 2000 as a way to bring together their experience in homebuilding and design. Josh Fischer had previously worked as a framing contractor, while Susie Fischer worked as an interior designer who owned her own store.

The company typically does four or five whole house renovations a year ranging in cost from $100,000 to $500,000. New construction homes range from $850,000 to $2,000,000.

Each of the company’s projects varies in terms of architectural and interior design style. “We recognize the importance of staying current with today’s market and trends. We are constantly researching styles, going to different trade shows and seeing new things,” Josh Fischer says.

Fischer Homes’ clients are requesting clean yet elegant designs with high-end finishes. Design features include custom cabinetry, high-end appliances, natural stone and glass tile, hardwood throughout the first floor, spa baths with fully tiled showers, quartz and granite countertops and upgraded door and trim packages.

“We are seeing smaller square footages with all of the bells and whistles. Clients are wanting spaces that are functional and easy to maintain,” Susie Fischer says.

The Fischers are assisted in their renovation and new construction projects by a regular team of trusted tradespeople and subcontractors. Fischer Homes also employs three staff members who oversee projects in the field. “We have had great relationships with suppliers and trades that, over the years, have become friendships,” Josh Fischer says.

Updating a Classic

The company’s recent projects include renovating and expanding a 1960s Mid-Century Modern home located in a golf course community. Fischer Homes’ renovation of the home maintains its exterior while updating its floor plan and giving it a number of modern amenities.

“The exterior of the home is very distinctive, and we wanted to preserve its Mid-Century design,” Josh Fischer says. “The interior boasts many new luxury features such as custom cabinetry, high-end appliances and granite countertops, hardwood flooring throughout the majority of the home, unique lighting and walk-in closets, while maintaining the integrity and overall feel of the original design.”
